Objective

The student will be familiar with the basic concepts of computing, such as data, file formats, directory structures, coding character sets, local area networks (LANs) and the Internet; with major parts of a computer and the operation of the parts, programme types and operating systems.

The student will be able to use tool programmes to create documents, calculations and presentations. The student will be able to operate within information network environments and take care of issues related to information security.

The student will be familiar with the basics of CAD. The student will be able to search certain information for planning and design in files drawn up with the most common software applications for HVAC design, and print the designs drawn with them.

Content

The equipment and LAN.
Data security and protection.
Introduction to application software: word processing spreadsheet calculation, graphics programmes and project management.
The basics of CAD.
Introduction to the features of the most common design applications for HVAC.
The phases of starting up a design project using HVAC design software.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student is able to create 2D geometry with basic applications. He or she is familiar with dimensioning. The student is familiar with the major tool programs and is able to repeat the tasks learned during the course listed above and as defined in Learning outcomes. The student completes assignments satisfactorily.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student is able to create 2D geometry with basic applications. He or she is able to use measurement and textual data, and to create print layouts and print them. The student is familiar with the basics of HVAC design software. The student is able to apply the knowledge and skills acquired during the course to new similar tasks. The student completes assignments satisfactorily and on time.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student is able to create 2D geometry proficiently with basic applications. He or she is familiar with dimensioning and adding textual data, and is able to create print layouts and print them. The student is familiar with the basics of HVAC design software. In addition to the requirements listed above, the student is interested in increasing the productivity of computing, is able to invent new ways to complete the given assignments and give reasons for his or her choices. The student completes assignments independently and in a professional manner.
