Heating Technology 2Laajuus (3 ECTS)
Course unit code: TY00AA72
General information
- Credits
- 3 ECTS
Objective
On completion of the course the student will have an overall understanding of the operation of heating systems in buildings and their effect on in-door climate. The student is expected to know the public rules and regulations concerning the building heating systems. Moreover, the student is expected to be familiar with the effects of the heating systems on the energy efficiency of buildings. The student is also expected to understand the network structure of heat transfer piping as well as their functioning from a fluid dynamic point of view. Furthermore, the student is expected to be able to design an economic heating network independently, to design and select the safety and expansion devices, also independently, and to be familiar with and able to implement the public rules and regulations governing the safe operation of heating systems. The student is also expected to be familiar with and able to implement the rules and regulations concerning the district heating equipment of buildings, to understand the basic concepts of control valves in heat transfer piping and to be able to implement the assessment criteria used for the selection of the valves. Moreover, the student is expected to be able to select an economically appropriate isolation method for heat transfer piping and its components.
