Objective

The studies help the student to gain such skills in English as to allow him/her to acquire information from sources in English and operate professionally in his/her position with clients and colleagues from abroad. The competencies involve good interaction skills in client and expert situations and mediation of knowledge from sources to different kinds of genres and documents. The studies support the student to gain a realistic image of his/her own communication comptetence and the ability to continue doing so through life-long learning.

Content

Studies in engineering. Educational background, studies, student exchange. Applying for positions in the field. Work, career development, positions.
Corporate work environments, industry and business: fields of industry, company operations and organisations; sales and purchase activity, product support; product and services; maintenance and support. Texts and terminology of the professional field. Oral interaction: presentations of company and products, trade fairs, telephone calls, oral reporting, expressing views in discussion. Written communication: short messages and letters, reports.
