Objective

Knowledge of engineering materials, cast iron, aluminium and aluminium alloys, stainless steels. Advanced high strength steels. Basics of plastics.
Basic principles of selection of materials.
Basic mechanisms of plastic deformation, fracture and fatique. Behaviour of engineering materials under stress and environmental influence.

Content

After this study students have the basic knowledge of materials selection for different applications and the understanding of materials behaviours in various loading situations.
