Objective
After completion of this course the student will be able to perform decibel conversions. The student will be able to design one-stage common emitter bipolar transistor and common drain field-effect transistor amplifiers. The student will be able to design Colpitts oscillators and measure the amplitude response of a voltage amplifier using a function generator and an oscilloscope. The student will understand the operation principles of A, AB and C -type power amplifiers.
Content
Fundamental principles of analogue electronics. Circuit model of a voltage amplifier. Bipolar and field-effect transistors as switches and small signal amplifiers. LC-oscillators. Power amplifiers.
Transistor small signal analysis. Common collector and common drain amplifiers.
