Objective

After completing the course the student knows the basic concepts related to signals and discrete time systems and understands the meaning of sampling in signal processing. The student knows how to model and analyse simple realtime systems.

After completing the course the student can solve simple difference equation models using z-transform and can utilise DFT in filtering signals. The student can analyse simple real systems and to evaluate the results of the models and experiments.

1) Mathematical description of signals
The student has an idea of the concepts of mathematical representation of signals. The student can describe simple signals using mathematics.
2) Sampling, discrete time system and z-transform
The student has in idea of sampling, discrete time system and z-transform. The student can describe simple discrete time systems / signals and calculate their z-transforms.
3) Discrete Fourier transform
The student has an idea of discrete Fourier transform. The student can calculate Fourier transforms for simple systems and signals.
