Objective

On completion of the course students are able to solve separable differential equations (ODE) and linear first and second order differential equations. Students can also find solutions to differential equations numerically. Students are able to construct and solve ordinary differential equations related to applications.

Content

1. The concept of ordinary differential equation
2. Numerical solution of ordinary differential equations
3. Separable ordinary differential equations
4. First and second order linear ordinary differential equations
5. Applications

Qualifications

Integral Calculus

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

1. The student is able to solve separable differential equations
2. The student is able to solve linear first and second order differential equations.
3. The student can find solutions to differential equations numerically.
4. The student is able to construct and solve ordinary differential equations related to applications.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

As level 1. Further, the student knows how to solve numerically a boundary value ODE by applying the difference method. The participant can also form ODEs in case of simple applications. The student is active during lessons.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

As level 3. Moreover, the student does lots of homework.
