Objective

On completion of the course the student will understand the concept of a function, will be able to form the graph of a function and know the most common real functions.

Content

1. Concept of function and Graphs
2. Polynomials
3. Trigonometric functions
4. Exponent- and logarithm functions
5. Composed functions and inverse functions

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

- The student understands the concept of a function.
- The student can draw a graph of a given function and is able to obtain graphical solutions of equations.
- The student is able to analytically solve equations related to real functions in content items 2-4.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

- As level 1.
- The student knows the basic properties of real functions and their character as models of real world.
- The student understands the concept of a composite function.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

- As level 3.
- The student knows challenging applications related to functions.
- The student understands the criteria for existence of an inverse function and is able to construct it in particular cases.
