Objective

Afetr completion of the course the student is familiar with various features of sustainability in practice. The student understands actual and potential applications of biocatalysts and their limitations in novel fields and how these are related to sustainability. The student is familiar with the basis of several practical iniatives as well as the basics of technical implementations

The student is able to find relevant information and data and apply these and the knowledge of the functions of biocatalysts when production/process concepts are being developed. The student is able to evaluate the effects of the concepts on environment and society

Sustainability and cell factories as concepts, central metabolic routes in cells and the enzymes and genes in these, information sources, principles in metabolic and enzyme engineering, biocatalysts in various applications, examples from industry and scientific projects
