Objective

The student gains familiarity with the basics of music analysis and learns to recognize the characteristics of the most common musical forms (e.g. different kinds of small forms, fugue, rondo, sonata form) of different periods.

Content

The course examines the characteristics of different musical styles, the principles of formal organization and the most common musical forms of different periods.
