Objective

Students know the foundations and social significance of working in news and current affairs, and understand the current challenges in news broadcasting, as well as its international character. Students understand the importance of keeping up to date with current affairs and news.
Students know the structure of a news story and the news criteria. They are able to select the essential facts for a news text, they know how to write a news bulletin, and how to edit the same news text for television, radio and the Internet. Students master journalistic image and sound narrative and are able to design and produce a television news story. They know the structure of a television newscast and the dramaturgy of news reporting. Students are capable of working as a member of a news team and they understand the importance of staying on schedule.

Students specializing in journalism are able to generate ideas for news stories, research, select appropriate interviewees and create an angle for a programme. They can organize complex information into a distinct entity.

Students specializing in production are able to refine ideas for news stories, and assess and give feedback on the content. They know how to determine the need for production resources and how to draw up a production plan. They can organize a team and work as a team member.

Students specializing in television directing are able to edit a news item for a variety of media. They know the techniques of visual expression and audiovisual journalism and are capable of using them when directing for television. Students know the directing methods and how to call out commands. Students master the camera, lighting, sound recording and editing techniques and are able to take their full potential and challenges into consideration in their work.
