Advanced Studies in Television Broadcasting 1Laajuus (10 ECTS)

Objective

Students can develop a concept for a television magazine programme collaboratively. They know how to keep up to date with current events in the society and to produce interesting content for the television. They are able to script and produce inserts, studio discussions and other elements of a television programme. They are aware of their own narrative style and know how to improve it. They master the technical part of producing a television show. In a television project, they work as a producer, editor or director, as well as take care of a variety of technical tasks.

Students specializing in journalism master the workflow of the journalistic process of producing a television programme. They are able to generate ideas for new forms of visual journalism. They understand the significance of journalism in mass communication and current social debate. Students are able write a script for a live television broadcast. They are able to interview and moderate a discussion in a talk show.

Students specializing in production are able to generate and develop ideas for factual programmes and topics. They master the production process of a factual television programme. Students know a variety of leadership models and are able to give and receive feedback and to apply their knowledge and skills in a variety of working environments.

Students specializing in television directing are able to draw up a directing and shooting plan for a multi-camera production and to use various techniques of visual and sound expression. When they are directing, they are able to use their knowledge of television programme genres in their solutions. They master the process of directing a factual television programme. They are able to organize and supervise a production crew.
