Objective

Students are introduced to the history of directing for the theatre, various starting points of theatre productions and the director's job descriptions in various artistic ensembles and processes. Students learn to plan a production, to acquire and process material, to work on the dramaturgy of the production, and to direct actors. Students acquire a broad view on producing a performance through a variety of rehearsal practices and forms of performance.

Content

The course is an introduction to fundamentals of directing for the theatre. Director's working methods include, for example, different approaches to reading and interpretation and the devising method, where the script is created during the rehearsal process. The course includes workhop and seminar meetings, practical exercises and theoretical lectures.
