Stage Work 1 – From an Idea to a ProductionLaajuus (15 ECTS)

Objective

Students understand the principles of planning and devising a group based performance. They know how to produce, collect and select material and process it dramturgically. They are able to work as responsible and creative members of an artictic group. Students know the basic concepts of theatre and recognize the special character of directing in a group based process.

Content

The Stage Work courses 1 and 2 intertwine in a collectively devisd production or event. Section 1, From and Idea to a Production section, is an exercise in collaborative artistic method. The course devises a performance, a series of performances or an event collectively. Performance/script is devised through a process where students gain insights into the interplay of dramaturgic work and finding solutions to directing issues.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Participating the lectures. Exercises done, some shortages.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Active participating to the lectures. Ability to adapt.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Active participating to the lectures. Ability to adapt and reflect. Exercises done with new knowledge to the subject.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

Completing the course with a pass grade requires that a student has met the objectives of the course as defined in the course implementation.
