Textile Materials ILaajuus (3 ECTS)

Objective

After finishing the course, the student will be familiar with textile raw materials: terms, production methods, qualities, finishing methods as well as care and washing instructions. The student will recognize the most important textile structures. The student will be able to choose the appropriate raw materials for his/her own textiles.

After passing the course the student is able to name the properties of natural fibres, synthetic fibres and mixed fibres. She/he understands the production and manufacturing process of textile fibres and their influence on the environment. The student is able to choose the right textile fibre for a textile product depending on its use.
