Objective

Students provide help and administer first aid in emergency situations and in the most common cases of illnesses and accidents. Students prevent accidents. Students use safe treatment methods in sampling and examination situations. Students describe the operations of their care unit as part of a client’s care and service chain.

Content

First aid contents equivalent to First Aid 1 and 2 courses: cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), first aid for suffocation victims, handling an unconscious person and the recovery position, shock, order of priority (triage), stopping bleeding, sudden attacks of illness, eye injuries, supporting a fracture and emergency splints, poisoning, burns and scalds, frostbite and hypothermia, minor injuries, examining an injured person and emergency reports.
Transportation of patients; injections, fluid treatment, bladder catheterisation and sampling; ensuring painlessness and pain management; coping with challenging life situations; operations of a medical unit and its co-operation with a laboratory.
