Objective
Students understand the concepts of occupation, health and well-being. They are aware of how occupation, health and well-being influence each other. They are familiar with the history of occupational therapy and its effects on the present and the future. Students know how occupational science supports occupational therapy. They gain personal experiences of occupation and understand the importance of reflection in analysis of occupation. Students learn occupational forms. They know how to analyse occupation.
Content
• Core concepts of occupational therapy, philosophy of occupational therapy, introduction to history, and occupational science 1 cr.
• Occupational nature of human beings, occupation as a phenomenon, effects of occupation on health and well-being, occupational justice and occupational deprivation 1 cr.
• Occupational analysis: the Building Therapeutic Power model 1 cr.
• Personal insight into occupational forms and occupational analysis
• Practical training 3 cr.
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
Students use the appropriate core concepts as well as make choices using the knowledge base of their own professional field. They recognise the prerequisites and consequences of their own actions.
Students’ actions follow the rules and instructions given, and they use working methods appropriately and safely.
Students work according to the professional ethics of their own field, and they act responsibly as group members.

Students analyse the relationships between appropriate core concepts as well as justify their choices using the knowledge base of their own professional field. They analyse the prerequisites and consequences of their own actions.
Students act according to the rules and instructions given in their operating environment, and they use working methods appropriately and safely.
Students work according to the professional ethics of their own field, and they act flexibly as group members.
