Objective
After completing the study unit, students master the manifold nature of health promotion and are able to implement it in their work. They use the work methods of health promotion in an appropriate and flexible way to prevent lifestyle diseases at individual, group and community level. Students are able to apply their knowledge base in health promotion to client-oriented planning: drawing up a plan, implementing and evaluating it.

Clinical practice at health centres: adult counselling/outpatient care 4.5 cr
Prevention of lifestyle diseases in response to major public health challenges in adult counselling and outpatient care
Client-oriented counselling in lifestyle change
Applying work methods of health promotion
Planning, implementing and evaluating individual counselling promoting health
Health promotion of adults and the elderly, 1.5 cr
Prevention and health promotion of diseases typical for Finland
Health challenges of adults and the elderly
Health examinations, screenings (laboratory tests) and client counselling at clinics
Care recommendations and screenings related to central diseases typical for Finland
Individual/Group counselling/Current projects on supporting lifestyle changes of adults: weight control, intoxicants (alcohol, drugs, smoking), health exercise
Promotion of functional capacity of adults and the elderly
Promotion of sexual health of adults and the elderly
