Clinical Nursing – Clinical practice 2Laajuus (6 ECTS)

Objective

Students know how to act in a client/patient-oriented way in nursing. They practise the interaction skills required in the profession and know how to encounter clients/patients professionally. Students identify needs related to patient’s daily activities and vital signs as well as apply the care methods of nursing to them. They are responsible and aware of the limitations of their actions. Students understand their responsibility for the development of their expertise and utilise the feedback they receive. They act according to the code of ethics and maintain confidentiality. Students comply with the rules of the work community and its operating principles.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Evaluation criteria: Accepted
Students maintain confidentiality and principles guiding the rules and activities of the work community.
Students take responsibility for their learning, are aware of the limitations of their actions and work in a responsible way.
Students work ergonomically considering patient safety.
Students apply the aseptic principles to their work.
Students encounter the resident/patient in a professional way and implement basic care safely observing and supporting his/her functional capacity and basic vital signs.
Students implement medication safely.
Students acquire fresh knowledge and understand the significance of scientific knowledge to nursing.
Students receive and utilise feedback on their professional actions.
Students evaluate the realisation of their own objectives and clinical practice plan as well as identify their strengths and take up development challenges for themselves.
