6. Selection of components for heating systems. Circulation pumps. Radiators and floor heating pipes.
7. Materials and insulation of piping. Control of noise in heating systems.
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
Can explain the basic requirements and operation principles of heating systems. Can, when assisted, design an efficient and economic heating system for a residential building. Can select correct pipe sizes and control valves and calculate their pressure losses. Can estimate the heating demand and heating energy use.
Assessment criteria, good (3)
Can explain the basic requirements and operation principles of heating systems. Can individually design an efficient and economic heating system for a residential building using CAD. Can calculate the heating demand and the heating energy use. Can compare different options for heat production and select the suitable option for buildings in different locations. Can define the optimal material and insulation of heating pipes.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
In addition to (3), can analyse and compare the energy performance of different heating systems. Can connect different heat sources to one heating system.
