Objective

Can explain the requirements and operation of the water, drainage and sewage systems in buildings. Can select the water supply and waste water fittings and pipes for a residential building. Can explain the principles of municipal water supply and sewage networks and the requirements for connecting to them. Can propose possibilities to reduce domestic water use and evaluate alternatives for local waste water treatment.

Content

Principles of water supply and waste water processing, municipal and local systems. Municipal water supply and sewage networks. Water use in buildings. Requirements for water and waste water systems in buildings. Dimensioning of water and waste water flows and piping. Water supply and sanitary fittings. Production and delivery of domestic hot water. Drainage systems. Sprinkler systems.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Can explain the requirements and operation of the water and sewage systems in buildings. Can, when assisted, select the water supply and waste water fittings and pipes for a residential building. Can explain the principles of municipal water supply and sewage networks. Can explain possibilities to reduce domestic water use.

In addition to (3), can analyse and propose solutions for sustainable water and waste systems in buildings.
