Osaamistavoitteet
After completion of this course, the student is able to integrate elementary functions. The participant also understands the meaning of definite integral as a limit of sum. Students can use computer to solve problems related integrals.
Sisältö
Integral function as an anti-derivative.
Integration by using tables.
Definite integral as a net signed area and how to approximate it by using midpoint rule.
The connection between integral functions and definite integrals (or the first fundamental theorem of calculus).
Improper integrals.
More advanced integration methods: integration by parts and by using partial fraction decomposition.
Numeric integration: Simpson’s rule.
The basic idea of an ordinary differential equation.
