Objective

On completion of the course the student will be able to construct a linear system of equations in relation to a practical problem and solve it using Cramer’s rule or by Gaussian elimination. The participant will be familiar with elementary matrix and vector algebra.

4. Concept of plane and space vectors
5. Scalar and cross products, projections

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

- The student is able to solve a linear system.
- The student is able to construct linear systems in relation to technical applications (e.g. DC-systems).
- The student can manage elementary calculations of vector algebra.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

- As level 1.
- The student knows when a linear system of equations has a unique solution.
- The student is able to apply linear algebra in various applications (including also DC-systems).
- The student is able to solve challenging problems with vector algebra.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

- As level 3.
- The student is able to apply linear algebra relating to demanding problems.
