Objective

The student understands the significance of polarization and the parameters of the medium in the radio link. The student is able to analyze and design microstrip lines. The student understands the significance of reflection and matching in radio frequency circuits and is able to match complex loads using lumped elements or a quarter wavelength transformer. The student understands the key specifications of antennas and is familiar with many different antenna types. The student is familiar with the most common active and passive RF components and understands their key specifications. The student is able to design a block diagram of a simple radio transmitter and receiver. The student is able to perform RF measurements using a spectrum analyzer and a vector network analyzer.

The contents and the assessment criteria of the course may be slightly different depending on the teacher of the course.
