Objective
After completion of this course the student will know number systems of the digital electronics. The student will be able to realize logical functions with basic gates circuits and understands what function the circuit realizes. The student will know basics of digital electronics.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
1. The student will know binary and hexadecimal numbers and is able to do conversions between them and decimal numbers
2. The student will be able to create a truth table and produce a schematic diagram from it using intermediate steps
3. The student will be able to realize circuit from a schematic diagram
4. The student will understand the basics of digital circuits
Assessment criteria, good (3)
1. The student will know binary, 2’s complement and hexadecimal numbers and is able to do conversions between them and decimal numbers
2. The student will be able to create a truth table and produce an optimized schematic diagram from it using intermediate steps
3. The student will be able to realize circuit from a schematic diagram
4. The student will understand the basics of digital circuits
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
1. The student will know binary, 2’s complement, BCD and hexadecimal numbers and is able to do conversions between them and decimal numbers
2. The student will be able to create a truth table and produce an optimized schematic diagram from it using intermediate steps
3. The student will be able to realize circuit from a schematic diagram
4. The student will understand the basics of digital circuits, knows different codes, e. g. Gray-code and is able to explain the function of components
