Objective

On completion of the course students know the concept of derivative, its graphical interpretation and its interpretation as instantaneous rate of change. Students are able to differentiate common real functions and apply derivative in technical applications.

- The student understands the geometrical interpretation of derivative and the interpretation as instantaneous rate of change.
- The student can differentiate common real functions.

- As level 1.
- The student is able to apply the chain rule.
- The student can apply differentiation in simple applications.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

- As level 3.
- The student is able to apply the inverse function differentiation rule.
- The student can apply differentiation in challenging applications.
