Objective

The student understands the need of appropriate documentation, communication between the team and between the team and the customer in a real life project. The student teams are able to plan and keep track of the product process. The student understands the need to integrate usability testing to the full length of the project process.

The student teams are able to plan, design and execute a product to a real customer. The team can collaboratively produce an interactive Web application using appropriate programming languages and create a user interface that conform to user needs as well as adapt the documentation to the needs of the actual product process.

Content

The goal of the project is to design and develop a small-scale interactive information service application on the Web. The project integrates the knowledge provided in the 1.term and 2.term courses of the academic year and develops students’ practical skills in applying that knowledge.
- Implement web application development methodologies in practice
- Apply basic visual design methods for Web applications
- Design a small-scale interactive application on the Web (using CSS and PHP)
- Manage small application development projects
- Organise and document individual learning in a group project

- Apply visual design methods for Web applications taking into account the customer’s and end-users needs and discuss the visual needs with the customer (user centred –design methods)
- Design a small-scale interactive application on the Web (deeper knowledge on how to use CSS and XHTML + MySQL)
- Develop an updating system for the customer
- Organise, document and reflect on the individual learning in a team project
