Objective

On completion of this course the student will know the basics of media production systems and operational phases in that. In addition to that the student will understand the technical definition for the word media and variable meanings for it in mass communication, publishing, personal communication and for equipment in media technology. Furthermore, the student understands the needs for design elements that different terminal equipment have and how the design process is organised according to the user-centred design process.

On completion of this course the student will be able to accomplish basic media production operations: record and capture media files, transfer material to presentation and semi-professional level publishing environments. Furthermore, the student is able to plan, document and select appropriate design methods for particular product designs as well as adapt the knowledge of user-centred design into a real life situation.

The student knows widely the processes of printed and digital communication, can identify, evaluate and develop media products and services, and can produce print and digital publications.
