Environmental Chemistry (3ECTS)

Objective

After completion of this course the student is able to understand the basics of environmental chemistry, the chemistry of most common elements, the behavior of harmful chemicals and substances in the nature and influences on human health. After completion of this course the student has a good knowledge in some environmental chemistry calculations.

Content

Nomenclature of environmental chemistry; environmental legislation and environmental rules and regulations of the authorities, basic properties of chemicals in the environment, the aquatic environment, the atmosphere, acid deposition, soil environment, renewable energy and possible future sources of energy, environmental toxicology.
