Objective

After the course the student recognizes different waste to energy power plant types and their technical feasibility. The student knows energy utilization of different waste fractions and the logistic part of waste management.

1. After the course the student can name and describe technical differences between waste to energy power plants.

2. After the course the student recognizes differences between different waste fractions in energy use.

3. The student knows basic factors that affect utilization of waste in an energy process.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

1. Student can calculate overall energy balance of simple waste to energy steam power plant

2. Student recognizes obligations in waste to energy legislation.

3. Student solves laboratory tasks and actively writes memos.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

1. Student applies previous studies and content of this course on area of waste to energy.

2. Student is capable to analyze waste to energy as part of waste management system.

3. Student solves laboratory tasks perfectly and writes robust reports together with his/her group.
