Objective

Students can fluently read texts in their field and can use English to develop their professional skills. They can recognize different text types and their special features. Students develop their reading techniques.

Students can acquire information in their field using different sources, handle and convey information both orally and in writing. Students are able to participate in conversation about different topics, summarize the main points of each text expressing them clearly.
Students have a realistic view of their language and communication skills and a positive attitude on developing their skills as part of their information retrieval and professionalism. Students’ skills are at B2 level (European Framework of Languages).

Content

Students can continue improving their language skills after completing Professional English course. This elective course gives students a good opportunity to practice and develop their reading skills.

We will concentrate on reading and discussing internet articles/news on current issues related to health and wellbeing. Reading is a great way to expand and update your vocabulary in the field of health care. This course also gives students a chance to enhance their speaking skills as they discuss the authentic texts and exchange opinions with their fellow students in English. The course participants are welcome to pick the topics and texts they prefer.

Approved
Students
- attend all contact lessons and do the required assignments
- actively participate in all class activities and discussions
- interact clearly and fluently as equal partners with other speakers
- express themselves effectively and accurately
- have the ability to summarize each text and express the main points clearly both orally and in writing
- pronounce English clearly, with stress and rhythm matching the total message
- have the ability to read different text genres
Failed
Students
- do not attend all contact lessons
- attend contact lessons but have not completed the required assignments
- do not actively participate in class activities or discussions
- do not express themselves effectively and accurately
- do not have the ability to summarize each text and express the main points clearly both orally and in writing
