Basics of Research and DevelopmentLaajuus (4 ECTS)

Objective

Students understand the premises and central concepts of evidence-based practice, research and development and the phases of research and development work. Students can search for and read research knowledge. Students are familiar with the knowledge foundation of their field and its core concepts and understand the significance of science supporting professional growth. Students are aware of the focus of attention and research targets concerning their own nursing research and understand how science benefits clinical practice and its development.

Different types of knowledge and formation of professional knowledge
Data collection (databases, statistics, reports) and ability to read scientific text
Phases of R&D
Science and its development at national and international level
Central concepts of science, research targets and the focus of attention today and in future
Significance of research knowledge to clinical practice and education
