Objective
On completion of the course, the student will be familiar with composition, perspective, colour theory and descriptive geometry. The student will be familiar with various techniques of drawing, painting and sculpture.
The student will be able to illustrate designs with both 2 - and 3-dimensional visualization methods.
The student will be familiar with artistic expression as a part of architectural design.
The student will be able to construct perspective and axonometric drawings.
The student will be able to use and combine colours in architectural design.
The student is aware of both traditional and computer aided illustration techniques.
Content
Basics of the composition
Basics of perspective.
Colour theory.
Descriptive geometry.
Arts (drawing, painting and sculpture).

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
The student is familiar with the course subjects on a satisfactory level.
The student has often been absent from the teaching sessions. Activity during the teaching sessions and rehearsals has been unsatisfactory.
The capacity to formulate relevant problems associated with the work is limited and the student has problems to apply theoretical studies to practical work. The reasoning in the rehearsal tasks is weak and the student has many gaps in his/her knowledge.
The student does not work independently and needs a lot of further guidance from the teacher. The student has not given a enough attention to the subject, and he/she does not have a clear overall understanding of the subject.
Assessment criteria, good (3)
The student is familiar with the course subjects on a good level.
The student has taken part in all teaching sessions and rehearsals and the activity on the course has been good.
The studies have proceeded consistently. The student is able to understand the basic topics of the course and is able to apply the theoretical studies to practical work. The reasoning of the rehearsal tasks is valid and the student understands the causes and effects of one's choices in the tasks.
The student works independently but there is still some need for further guidance from the teacher. The student has given enough attention for the subject and has an overall understanding of the subject.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
The student masters the course subjects excellently.
The student has achieved the course objectives fully. The student has taken actively and constructively part in the teaching and the project.
The student masters the topics of the course and its prerequisites, and is able to apply theoretical studies to practical work. The reasoning in the rehearsal tasks is professional and the student can validate the causes and effects of his/her choices.
The student works independently and takes initiative. The student masters the overall subject in both theory and practice.

Objective
Opintojaksolla opiskelija tutustuu sommittelun, perspektiiviopin, väriopin ja deskriptiivisen geometria perusteisiin. Opiskelija tutustuu erilaisin piirustus-, maalaus- ja kuvanveistotekniikoihin.
Opintojakson suoritettuaan opiskelija osaa monipuolisesti sekä 2- että 3-ulotteisen visualisoinnin keinoin havainnollistaa suunnittelusisältöjä. Opiskelijan ymmärtää taiteellisen ilmaisun merkityksen osana arkkitehtisuunnittelua.
Opiskelija osaa käsin konstruoiden tuottaa perspektiivi- ja aksonometrisia piirustuksia
Opiskelija osaa käyttää ja yhdistellä värejä arkkitehtisuunnittelussa.
Opiskelija tuntee erilaisia käsin ja tietotekniikan avulla tuotettuja esitystekniikoita .

Student workload
Suorituksen saaminen edellyttää 80% osallistumista lähiopetukseen ja ohjaukseen, yms.
Opiskelijan työkuorma 27 h / op, joka sisältää lähiopetuksen ja opiskelijan itsenäisen työskentelyn.
Rakennusarkkitehtuuri opintojen laajuus ja harjoitustöiden työmäärä on mitoitettu kokopäivätoimisen opiskelun mukaan.
Suorituksen saaminen edellyttää, että kaikki kurssitehtävät on tehty hyväksyttävästi.
Jos kurssissa on alkutentti, se pitää läpäistä ennen kurssiin aloittamista.

Opiskelija ei pysty hahmottamaan aiheen perusideoita eikä pysty soveltamaan oppimaansa käytännön työhön. Harjoitustehtävissä perustelut ovat haparoivia ja puutteita ilmenee aikaisemmin opitun tiedon osalta.
Harjoitustöiden osalta opiskelija ei pysty työskentelemään itsenäistä vaan tarvitsee paljon lisäohjausta. Opiskelija ei ole paneutunut aiheeseen eikä kokonaisuus ole opiskelijan hallussa.

Opiskelija hallitsee kurssilla opetetut asiat hyvin.
Opiskelijalla ei juuri ole poissaoloja. Aktiivisuus luennoilla ja tehtävissä on hyvä. Työskentely etenee opintojaksolla johdonmukaisesti. Opiskelija hahmottaa opintojakson aiheen perusideat ja osaa soveltaa oppimaansa käytännön työhön sekä osaa selittää sujuvasti harjoitustöissä tehtyjen valintojen syyt ja seuraukset.
Harjoitustöissä työskentely on ollut riittävän itsenäistä mutta myös ohjaukselle on ollut tarvetta. Opiskelija hallitsee tehtävän kokonaisuuden.

Opintojaksolle asetetut tavoitteet on saavutettu kiitettävällä tavalla. Opiskelija on osallistunut opetukseen aktiivisesti ja rakentavasti.
Opiskelija hahmottaa opintojaksolla opetetut sekä aikaisemmin opitut asiat ja osaa soveltaa oppimaansa käytännön työhön. Opiskelija osaa selittää ja perustella asiantuntevasti harjoitustöissä tehtyjen valintojen syyt ja seuraukset. Työskentely on ollut itsenäistä ja oma-aloitteista. Opiskelija hallitsee kokonaisuuden sekä teoreettisesti että käytännössä.
