Objective

The student can draw the refrigeration process for the log p,h drawing, use it to evaluate the operation of the refrigeration system and calculate the starting values of the equipment dimensioning. The student can describe the components of refrigeration systems and explains their meaning and function as part of the system. The student can calculate the cooling power requirement of a cold storage, choose a refrigerant, design a refrigeration system on a schematic level and dimension the equipment and pipes.

Content

The main parts of the refrigeration systems. Operating principle. Coefficient of performance and the energy balance of refrigeration system. Refrigerants. Log p,h drawing. Pipe diagrams. Calculation of cooling demand. Refrigerant selection. Sizing of main components and pipes.
