Objective

Students know the key concepts and models of communication. Students are able to analyze communication as a social force and identify the distinguishing features of different media. Students can make observations on their own communicative behaviour. Students know the main theories relating to production and reception of meanings in communication. Students understand the activities of communicative institutions and their affiliations to other institutions of the society. Students are capable of perceiving the societal dimensions of their professional practice.

- Theories on the dynamics of communication and the society
- Political, economic and cultural roles of communication in the society
- Concepts and operating principles of the media economy

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Inadequate participation in class. Assignments need improvement. Student does not completely meet the learning objectives defined in the course outline.

Active participation in class. Ability to apply the learned knowledge. Self-initiated learning. Student meets the learning objectives defined in the course outline.
