Objective
On completion of the course, the student will have a wider knowledge and skills in analytical methods. The student will be familiar with the basic principles of analytical devices and their principles. He/she will be able to perform spectroscopic and chromatographic analyses of cultural heritage material samples and evaluate the results in cooperation with a chemist/ specialist. After completing the course, the student will know and recognize chemical structures of different materials and apply analytical methods for their recognition.

Analytical methods used in conservation; VIS, XRF, FTIR, Chromatography
Getting familiar with scientific research methods and articles

The student is able to understand the key concepts of the course theme and knows the related basic theory. The student knows the analytical and research methods used in conservation. The student is able to acquire reliable information independently. The student is able to take samples and choose the right analytical method.

The student knows well the basic idea and concepts of the course theme. The student shows good theoretical, practical and applied knowledge related to analytical methods in conservation. The student masters the skills required in the course and is able to acquire reliable information independently. The student is able to take samples and choose correct analytical method and estimate the correctness of results.

The student masters the course content and has achieved an excellent level in his/her knowledge and skills. The student shows excellent theoretical and practical knowledge and is able to apply learned during the course knowledge and skills. The student masters the basic skills presented during the course, is able to take samples, analyze samples chosen by him/her analytical method and interpret gained results. The student is able to acquire information and analyze and apply this information.
