After the course student recognizes the main ways to produce heat and electricity with steam power plant, wind, solar and heat pump technology.

Typical power plant components (boilers, heat exchangers, deaerators, condensers)
Basics of wind & solar energy

Student can calculate simple mass and energy balance calculations based on power plant cycles and heat pumps.
Student recognizes prospects and limitations of renewable energy.
Student recognizes basic working principles of wind and solar energy.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Student can calculate mass and energy balance calculations based on power plant cycles.
Student can calculate heat pump calculations.
Recognizes basics of wind and solar power and can calculate simple wind and solar calculations.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Student can calculate advanced power plant calculations.
