Multimedia Systems in Wireless and Fixed NetworksLaajuus (5 ECTS)

Objective

On completing the course the student understands how the technologies and structures of modern wireless and fixed IP networks are constructed and how different multimedia services can be offered through these networks. The course covers the characteristics and technical challenges of wireless communication and concentrates on technologies such as 3G/4G, WLAN and WiMax. Students will also get familiar with various broadband technologies used in fixed access and core networks and the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) as a platform for future applications.
