Objective

On completion of the course the student
- will be able to select a foundation type for a building
- will be familiar with other main sectors of foundation engineering: excavations, drainage, frost protection, soil structures of a building
- will be able to draw up a foundation plan for a building project according to instructions

Content

The student will get acquainted with foundation works and will be able to plan the most important foundation structures of buildings according to instructions. In addition, the student will recognize the usual risks of foundation works and will know the quality control methods.

Regulations and instructions in foundation engineering. Selecting a foundation type. Soil structures in building construction. Excavations. Drainage of foundation and courtyard. Frost protection. Implementation of soil and foundation works.
