Objective

On completion of the course the student will be familiar with the causes and effects of the technical and economical factors related to real estate management. The course deals with organizing the use and maintenance issues of a real estate, and the possibilities of technical management in producing efficient and client-friendly real estate maintenance services. In addition to the theoretical part, the course includes practical assignments which require the use of sophisticated IT tools.

- Tasks in technical management
- The nomenclatures, terminology and concepts in real estate business, and the organization of real estate work
- The life cycle of a real estate and the possibilities of property management to affect the life cycle
- Condition assessments, planning renovation and a long term repair plan
- Controlling the energy consumption and maintenance of real estate and calculating the profitability of energy consumption
- Calculating property work and controlling labour expenditure
- Facility security and crime prevention
- Building automation and its full utilization
- Maintenance manual as a basic tool of the whole property
- Computer software for completing the assignment

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student is familiar with the tasks of technical management, knows the procedures required by energy efficiency and recognizes the essential concepts affecting the repair plan of real estate. The student is able to complete the assignment according to instructions.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student is able to apply the acquired knowledge and skills in managing the technical services of a property. The student is able to complete the assignment independently.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student is able to analyse and outline the acquired knowledge and apply the learned skills in managing the technical services of a property. The student is able to complete the assignment independently and in a fairly professional manner.
