RenovationLaajuus (5 ECTS)

Objective

The student will be familiar with older, either no longer used or partly used, HVAC and electrical systems, supplies, fittings and appliances as well as their special features from the renovation point of view. The student will know how to determine the condition of older structures and systems to help make the decision between preservation and renewal. The student will know the special ways of implementing the building code to renovation.

Content

• existing building services systems from different eras
• older methods of installation
• older fittings and their replacement with newer ones
• condition surveys and the like
• implementing public rules and regulations on renovations
• contracting for renovations
• special requirements due to the older architectural features.

The student is able to apply the acquired knowledge and skills according to instructions.
