Objective

Having completed the course the student will have an overall picture of the factors that have an effect on indoor climate and the control of these factors, and of ventilation and its role in building construction. The student will be familiar with various air conditioning systems, the basic processes of air treatment, the concepts and definitions of ventilation and air conditioning as well as the rules, regulations and standards from the authorities governing ventilation systems and equipment in buildings.

The student will be able to draw an overall design for the ventilation system in a one-family house. Furthermore, the student will be able to implement the official rules and regulations in simple cases. The student will also be able to define the basic processes of air conditioning in the h-x-plane and perform related calculations.

Content

Indoor climate: factors effecting it and the quality grading of it, rules and regulations regarding ventilation, residential ventilation systems, air conditioning processes in the h-x plane, ventilation pipe system, its components and dimensions, equipment for distribution of air, design of ventilation for a one-family house.
Basic air conditioning processes in the h-x plane. Implementing regulations in design and installation.
