Objective

On completion of the course the student will have learnt the theoretical basics necessary for controlling high voltage. The student will be familiar with overvoltage and features necessary for maintaining voltage levels.
----
The student will be able to calculate voltage levels and select the appropriate overvoltage protection for each case.

Content

Insulators in electric fields, disruptive discharges, aging of insulators, heat-up of transformers, types of overvoltage, climatic overvoltages, calculation of transient voltages and connective overvoltages. Laboratory exercises on special coordination and protection against overvoltage.
----
Overvoltages and protection against overvoltage in distribution networks supplying a building from the outside.

Qualifications

Measuring Technology, Electrical Systems, Dimensioning Calculations for Electrical Distribution, SFS6002 Safety at Electrical Work
