Objective
The student can explain the main issues of the theories using correct terminology. The student understands the meaning and effect of the different visual elements and signs in the design process. In addition, the course provides means to understand the interpretation process of visual signs and take into account the design strategic elements in the design process.

The student can analyse visual design from different perspectives and create him/herself different visual elements for different purposes. Furthermore, the student can select and justify his/her chosen design elements, signs and compositional solutions. The student understands the main aspect of creating a brand or company imago.

- Colour symbolism and communication using colours
- Marketing strategies and visual design
- Logos, brands, sign vehicles

- The student can explain and understands the typographical design as communication method/media
- The student can explain and understands what and how the images communicate
- The student can explain and understands the meaning and use of colour symbolism and communication using colours
- The student can explain and understands marketing strategies and can use the correct terminology such as logos, brands, sign vehicles
Assessment criteria, good (3)
-The student can use all the above in his/her design and analysing of visual design projects
-The student knows the main issues of visual design history and its effect on the present and possible effects on the future, and can use this knowledge for his/her benefit in design projects
- The student knows that there are other methods for aiding visual design and its analysis, for example the semiotic tool box and can use these

- The student knows and can take into account the visual design aspects in multichannel publishing
