Mechanical unit operations 1Laajuus (3 ECTS)
Course unit code: TO00AA52
General information
- Credits
- 3 ECTS
Objective
After completion of this course the student will be familiar with the basic concepts and theories of granules and powders as well as theory and practice of size reduction. The student will understand operation principles and dimensioning of equipment used in sieving, classification, sedimentation, centrifugation and filtration. The student is familiar with the methods used in decanting of insoluble liquids and elimination of droplets and mist from gases.
-----
After completion of this course the student will know how to evaluate the energy consumption and select appropriate equipment in size reduction and sieving. The student is able to select and dimension equipment for separation of solids from liquid. The student has the knowledge how to scale-up filters using filtration tests.
