Objective
On completion of the course the student will be familiar with ICT related vocabulary and will understand the main content of texts associated with the field. The student will be able to acquire field-specific information from English sources and evaluate their reliability. The student will have an adequate knowledge of formal and technical writing to compose enquiries, offers, orders and letters of complaint within his or her own field. The student will be able to deal with work-related communication situations. The student will be able to describe ICT products, production processes and work flows and deliver an associated product presentation.

Characteristics of formal and technical writing.
Information acquisition from field-specific sources in English.
English for trade fairs, conferences and corporate communications.
Developing oral presentation skills.

Poor active proficiency, passive language skills almost on B2 level
Reading skills: knows field-specific vocabulary in media technology and knows how to find out the meaning of unfamiliar or new words; understands the basic meaning of an easy field-specific text; identifies relevant field-specific sources; knows in theory how to evaluate the reliability of a source
Writing skills: knows the principles of composing formal, field-specific business letters such as quotations and complaints; is able to describe a simple, field-specific product or production process in a few words
Speaking skills: is able to describe in a few words field-specific products and processes; knows how to give an elementary field-specific product or process presentation
Assessment criteria, good (3)
Active proficiency almost on B2 level, passive language skills clearly on B2 level
Reading skills: knows field-specific vocabulary in media technology and is able to find out the meaning of unfamiliar or new words; understands an easy field-specific text; identifies and knows how to use relevant field-specific sources; is generally able to evaluate the reliability of a source
Writing skills: knows how to compose simple but formal field-specific business letters such as quotations and complaints; is able to describe a simple, field-specific product or production process
Speaking skills: is able to describe the basics of field-specific products and processes; knows how to give a rather proficient field-specific product or process presentation
