Objective
On Completion of the course the student knows principles of process dynamics.
The student knows principles of the process control and can apply techniques to practical problems.
The student also knows hierarchy of the automation control system and its importance as a part of overall automation.
Content
1. Process dynamics.
2. Modelling by using step response and balance calculations.
3. Block diagram algebra
4. Transfer functions and the control circuit
5. PID-control and its tuning
6. Most common combinations of control
7. Control performance
8. Automation control system as a part of overall automation.
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
The student can explain techniques of process dynamics and process control. The student can name structure of the PID-controller, can explain how different part of the controller effect to the process and interpret control performance with simple calculations.
The student can do step response experiment, interpret its result and calculate parameters for PID-controller. The student can explain structure of the automation control system and its meaning in process control.
