Ajoneuvotekniikan osaaminen perustuu sähkötekniikkaan, konetekniikkaan ja ajoneuvotekniikkaan.
Valmistuttuaan opiskelija
•tuntee ajoneuvojen perusrakenteet, komponentit ja järjestelmät
•tuntee ajoneuvojen valmistustekniikan menetelmät
•ymmärtää auton dynaamisen käyttäytymisen
•osaa kuvata ja simuloida ajoneuvojärjestelmiä matematiikan keinoin
•ymmärtää luonnontieteen merkityksen autoteknisissä sovelluksissa
•tuntee moottorin toiminnan
•hallitsee diagnostiikkaa ja vianetsintää
•tuntee puolijohdetekniikan ja sen keskeiset komponentit
•tuntee yleisimmät materiaalit ja kemikaalit sekä niiden käyttöominaisuudet
