Objective

The student knows in generally testing principles of diagnostic tests. S/he can compare different test formats according to their capacity and knows how to strengthen or weaken them. The student gets to know the development, production and validation process for new applications of different diagnostic fields.

Content

1. The alternative methods for measuring of analyte and comparing them according to test properties in the diagnostics industry.
2. The development and production process of diagnostic test and basics of validation.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

1. The student knows different technical solutions and chemical principles of several diagnostic tests.
2. The student can name the main phases of the development and production processes in the diagnostic industry.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

1. The student can compare different test formats according to their capacity. S/he understands how sample matrices influence in choosing the right test type.
2. The student recognizes the critical points of the development/production processes and can make a plan for validation.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

1. The student can compare the weaknesses and strengths of diagnostic tests to similar test formats.
2. The student can interpret the validation results
