Objective

After completion of this course the student is able to understand the basics of the chemical principles and the chemistry of most common elements and the environmental impacts of chemicals.

After completion of this course the student has a good knowledge in general chemistry calculations.

Content

Stoichiometry, atomic structure and chemical bonding, change of states, compounds, chemical equilibrium, electrochemistry and corrosion, chemistry of some elements, organic chemistry, combustion gas desulfurization techniques and waste water treatment.

Waste and hazardous waste, environmental legislation and environmental rules and regulations of the authorities.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student understands the content of the basic concepts in chemistry and is able to calculate basic exercises.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student is able to calculate exercises independently applying the basic concepts of chemistry.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student is able to put the basic concepts of chemistry into practice independently.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

The student understands the content of the basic concepts in chemistry and is able to calculate basic exercises.
